Cuddly baby camel wool in its purest form: two-tone in natural camel and midnight blue . This elegant cape is woven by hand over several hours from pure baby camel hair - unadulterated and absolutely natural. The baby camel wool comes from the Gobi steppe in Mongolia.
Weaving technique: 4-ply yarn, mechanically woven in exclusive Verena von Eschenbach wave weave design in Mongolia. The fringes are cut, the round neckline is narrowly sewn around and a one-sided woven accent made of natural white Mongolian sheep's wool completes the design.
Size: 150x150 cm
Color: natural camel midnight blue
Material: 100% baby camel
What is baby camel wool?
Most of the country's camels live in the Mongolian steppe in the south of the country. In late spring, around May/June, the camels shed their hair.
The baby camels have their first hair change at about 1-2 years of age.
At that time, the little camel is combed for the first time. This young wool is almost as soft as cashmere wool and is ideal for weaving and knitting. The nomads we work with will receive two wooden corridors donated by Verena von Eschenbach in 2023. This mobile wooden frame helps the nomads to comb their animals' flanks safely and safely from the outside using special combs - a very physically demanding job.
The camel is then returned to the herd and the wool is finally taken to Ulaan Baatar for washing, kading and spinning for further processing there.
