“In order for the possible to come into being, the impossible must be attempted”

Marie von Ebner – Eschenbach

VvE stands for Verena von Eschenbach and behind it I stand, Verena Ebner von Eschenbach, with my energetic team. I have been building bridges between Europe, Mongolia and Nepal for 6 years.

They are the bridges of balance, sustainability and fairness, mindfulness and respect for nature, animals and people. The extraction and manufacture of products from the fantastic wool from cashmere goats, yak cattle and camels inspired me so much that I went in search of the best wool and finally found it in Outer Mongolia.

Where the expanse stretches to the horizon, where only the wind awakens the silence, that is where I enjoy peace and freedom. The mountain goats jump over the endless hills, the yak cattle graze stoically and the camels move for miles across the southern steppes. I accompanied the nomads and their herds and was able to learn a lot about their traditions and way of life in the ice-cold winter and the short summer. It is this lingering in peace, surrendering to the simple flow of life, that makes me happy and free in my head every time.

In order to be able to process this special wool, I had to be prepared to accept hardships, obstacles and detours. I kept looking for new solutions as to how the cashmere could be sourced from non-overgrazed areas of balanced herds and how this wool could be woven and knitted even better. How can even more sustainable business and social commitment be implemented and how can I always achieve these goals honestly and transparently, sustainably and fairly, passionately and with joy together with everyone. This is a challenge that is worth taking on in order to make a meaningful contribution to all of us and the world.

The warmth of the nomads and the simple life there in the beautiful nature, but above all the endless expanse of the land and the absolute silence captivated me from the very beginning. For centuries, the nomads have looked after their animals, which are their only asset, a particularly valuable asset. The hard daily work in the ice-cold winters and the short summers under often difficult conditions together with their herds, shows them the greatest respect. The nomads love their animals and I feel that when I am with them and experience how the animals are treated, how they live in freedom in nature and I feel that in their delicate coats. The pure cashmere, the soft yak and camel hair were finally found after many years of searching.

It is very worthwhile to stand up for this because we want to preserve nature, conserve resources and maintain the balance between taking and giving back. We pay the nomads fairly for their very hard work and directly through the Mongolian cooperatives of the respective community. Our company is not about constant growth, but rather about preserving the most valuable natural resource, which is only available in limited quantities in its uniqueness.

It is entirely possible to make a statement in the textile and fashion industry!
