With us you can have pure nature: The cashmere goats and yak cattle, as well as the camels, roam in free-living herds across the expanses of Mongolia. They live together with the nomads, who ensure that the animals are led to the nearest water source or well after 2-3 days, that they do not overgraze the meadows and that they survive the harsh winters as best as possible. Once a year, when the animals shed their fur, they are combed out by hand. The wool is then washed with a residue-free soap and spun into threads. Our wool is completely untreated and therefore 100% natural. Azo-free color pigments are used for our dyeing, and the dye water is neutralized and returned to the environment.

Our knitted models are made in a family business in Ulaan Bataar, the capital of Mongolia. Since the weaving tradition in Mongolia has been lost, we have our blankets, shawls and scarves woven in Kathmandu in Nepal. There, the hand weavers still master the art of weaving on wooden looms that are operated by hand.

Both the nomads and the craftsmen receive a fair wage for
their work. This enables them to provide for their families, send their children to school and make ends meet economically. Both Nepal and Mongolia are among the poorest countries in the world. VvE wants to make a meaningful contribution to preserving the traditions and lives of these peoples.

The labels are made of “fair trade” unbleached and delicate cotton batiste. The woven and natural cotton labels are embroidered and have the Oekotex Standard 100 seal. The hang tag is made of recycled paper and the cord is made of certified cotton.
A small linen bag filled with a mixture of fresh cedar wood shavings, tonka, vanilla, cinnamon, etc. protects the valuable goods and smells of the vast landscape of Mongolia.
Each finished knitted and woven piece is packaged in a specially designed paper bag and delivered with a natural linen bag.
The paper bag is made in Germany and the paper is verifiably produced from sustainable forestry. This wafer-thin glassine paper is oxygen-bleached and therefore acid and chlorine-free. There is even a food safety certificate and therefore meets the highest requirements. The linen bags are sewn in Latvia exclusively for VvE. We hand over our products to our customers in embroidered linen bags, which can also be used as a laundry bag for machine washing and serves to protect your favorite items.
We always avoid plastic packaging and ensure that the goods are loaded onto the plane, the only means of transport from Nepal to Germany. This also applies to the shipping of goods from Mongolia.
