Magic at every step - from Cape Town to Munich
For 7 years, Munich-based designer Verena Ebner von Eschenbach has been working behind the scenes at the Verena von Eschenbach company with a lot of passion and drive. Her primary passion is fashion made from natural and pigment-dyed cashmere, baby camel and yak wool collections. In factories in Kathmandu/Nepal, large blankets and scarves are woven using traditional hand weaving techniques, and the fashion pieces are knitted in Ulaan Bataar/Mongolia.
Of course, Verena VvE is one of the nomads herself, helps comb the wool every spring in the mountainous highlands of Mongolia and visits the factories to make sure that everyone receives a decent wage and that the wool is processed sustainably.
The last two years have been a very difficult time, especially for the people in Nepal and Mongolia, which has also led to considerable logistical problems. In winter 2021/22, a 'bridge collection' was created in Cape Town, South Africa, which has now become almost a second home for the designer.
In a small company, Verena VvE has her Women from the townships the slippers de luxe carefully handcrafted according to our own designs. Leftover materials brought along are processed into unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. Each pair of shoes only exists once in the world!
To balance things out, Verena EvE donates at least 1% of the proceeds to the Township Garden Center www.soilforlife.co.za , in which up to 400 residents from the poorest areas learn each year how to grow their own organic vegetables, fruit and herbs without fertilizers in permaculture Together with the organic trade of Riegelweine and some investors in Cape Town, this nursery has been very well-respected for over 15 years.
Let yourself be enchanted by the unique slippers, comfortable for your feet on every occasion.
